Missed out on the annual Open Enrollment Period? You’re in luck! The 2021 COVID-19 Special Enrollment Period has created a rare opportunity to secure ACA-compliant individual health insurance outside of the annual Open Enrollment Period.
Also known as “Obamacare plans”, this type of major medical insurance meets the ACA’s minimum essential coverage requirements. Individuals can enroll for these plans during the annual Open Enrollment Period of November 1 – December 15. (Note: Plans and rates for next year will not be available to view until November 1.)

Also known as “short-term health insurance”, non-ACA plans can be an affordable alternative for individuals who are in good health and don’t need coverage for maternity, mental health, substance abuse, or a preexisting condition. There is no designated enrollment period for these plans — you can apply at any time.

The leading health insurance providers in the state of Texas all participate on the exchange. All health insurance plans and rates are regulated by the Texas Department of Insurance. You will not find better pricing with any of these providers, even if you purchase directly from the carrier. The private exchange can also help you determine if you’re eligible for a government subsidy and assist you when applying.
You also have access to special member group pricing on useful benefits such as dental, vision, life, long term disability, long term care, PAI, ID theft, pet insurance, and more. Plans are offered by some of the best and well known providers in the U.S. like MetLife, Prudential, and VPI.
* State Bar of Texas members and employees of members actively enrolled in health insurance through the Texas Bar Private Insurance Exchange (EXCHANGE) starting March 1, 2017, are eligible for Participation membership benefits. Participation membership benefits are provided by the State Bar of Texas Insurance Trust (TRUST) at no additional cost to members whom are active insured participants on the EXCHANGE and may be discontinued at any time at the discretion of the TRUST. If you do not want Participation membership benefits, you may opt out during your enrollment process or by calling the administrator Member Benefits at 800-282-8626. Enrollment in other complimentary programs do not qualify.

A Supplemental health credit is provided by the TRUST for participating members that choose to add supplemental health coverage to their health coverage package through the EXCHANGE. The supplemental health credit covers the full cost of the Enrollee-Only Basic plan option. Members may also choose to apply the credit to the cost of family coverage and alternative supplemental health plan options available through the EXCHANGE. Credit may be discontinued at any time at the discretion of the TRUST.
Basic AD&D coverage is provided by the TRUST on a complimentary basis and may be discontinued at any time at the discretion of the TRUST.
